Vitamin C Rich Foods Workshop

Did you know that parsley, kiwi, broccoli, brussel sprouts, papaya, oranges, melon, lemon and green cabbage contain Vitamin C? Did you know that women, men and children need a continuous supply of Vitamin C in their diet daily?
This water-soluble vitamin acts as an antioxidant helping to prevent cellular damage, which can contribute to aging, cancer, and heart disease. This water-soluble vitamin is necessary for the repair of tissues, wounds, and scars throughout the human body. Learn about the primary functions of Vitamin C in maintaining collagen, red blood cell formation and the metabolism of amino acids that end up as hormones. Learn about how Vitamin C acts as a stress nutrient and why we must rely upon a dietary source.

Led by Robert Sondak, Clinical Diet Tech, Junior Nutritionist and Food Educator.
Robert studied Food Science and Dietetics at Pratt Institute Brooklyn, New York. He has also worked at MGH, The New England Medical Center and was a nutrition intern for the old Boston Food Bank in. Currently, Robert is the Executive Director of the Nutrition Education Outreach Project, (NEOP).

WINTER SKIN CARE

Chapped lips, chapped hands—winter is hard on everyone's skin! We will discuss basics of skin care for the winter, including useful herbs and nutrition. We'll also make a rich, creamy lotion with ingredients that are all available at Harvest, to take home with you. Don't let cold weather make you miserable; learn to protect your skin!
Iris Weaver is an herbalist and educator with over 30 years experience. She has an herbal business making and selling herbal products locally, as well as teaching classes and doing consultations. Iris is also an avid gardener, and grows many of the herbs she works with and uses in her classes.
