OCTOBER 2008:
A Sampler of recent suggestions of general interest ... and our answers:

question Can we get some better beef? I know we used to sell some a while ago.

questionGreat timing! We just added beef from Hardwick Beef, grown on local/regional farms in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
These cows are raised on grass, without any antibiotics or added hormones. The beef is naturally lower in calories, fat and saturated fat.
It has been selling well in JP, and is starting to move better in Cambridge.
We had used another farm, but we had to buy too high a minimum order for us to keep it fresh.
Try Hardwick’s, and let us know what you think! Thanks, Cara

question How about some VEGAN nutritional yeast, to help us satisfy B-12 needs?
You have some great B-12 rich yeast, but it has dairy – and those who consume dairy don’t need it!

question The bulk nutritional yeast is dairy-free.
(Oh, the packaged nutritional yeast has whey – I see now.)

questionPlease reconsider selling butter only by the pound. A 1/4 lb. stick lasts me 2 months. The rest would taste like refrigerator by 8 months! At best!

questionThat is not our choice. It is illegal to sell 1/4 lb. sticks out of the package. Butter freezes very well, though – that’s what I do. Chris

questionI’m wondering if the co-op could carry day-old bread on sale.
Also, I noticed that the cashiers overhead lights are not on.

questionWe do carry day-old bread on sale – perhaps it is gone by the time you get here. Those are not lights over the cashiers’ heads – those are heaters for the winter.

questionThanks for adding the make-your-own salad bar (in JP). There is no place else around I can do that!

questionYou are welcome! Let us know how it’s going, and any suggestions you have for what we should put in the salad bar.
